Regulatory Status

Is there any legislation governing TG in EU?

Currently a majority of enzymes is regarded as being processing aid under the framework of Directive (89/107/EEC). Only France & Denmark have national enzyme laws.
A new European Regulation 1332/2008 has been introduced since January 2009 and will be soon governing the use of food-grade enzymes in the EU. Among others, this Regulation is aiming for establishing a positive list of enzymes to be used in food and TG will be among those enzymes.
